Reading time: 5 minutes

Are you struggling to connect your Android mobile device to your Sound Capsule? We have now released a firmware update that fixes this issue.

Firmware release date: 06.20.23

What Android mobile devices are affected?

The confirmed affected devices are the following:

  • Google Pixel 6A
  • Google Pixel 6 Pro
  • Google Pixel 7
  • Samsung Galaxy S22+

If you are experiencing connection issues with an Android phone that are not listed here, we still recommend following this guide. It's possible that there are other Android phones facing the same issue that we are not aware of. By following this guide, you should be able to resolve the problem.

What is causing the connection issue?

We have confirmed there is a flaw in the Android operating system which caused these mobile devices to fail in maintaining Bluetooth connection with the Nomono Sound Capsule.

How do I fix this?

We have released a new firmware update that will fix the issue for you.

If you have one of the mentioned devices above and are struggling to connect your Sound Capsule to your mobile phone, follow the guide underneath. When your Sound Capsule has been updated, you will be able to connect your mobile device to your Sound Capsule.

Before starting this update, you first have to get hold of / borrow another mobile phone that is not mentioned in the list above. This could be any other mobile phone using Android or also an iPhone. You will initiate the update with this mobile phone.

The reason why you need another device to do this update, is because your Sound Capsule needs to be connected to WiFi to be able to receive the firmware update we have released. As soon as your Sound Capsule has been updated, you will then be able to use your initial mobile phone that previously had connection issues.

After this, you don't ever need to borrow another mobile phone again and you are free to use all the mobile devices from the list.

Update guide

Step 1:

Get hold of a mobile phone that is not on this list:

  • Google Pixel 6A
  • Google Pixel 6 Pro
  • Google Pixel 7
  • Samsung Galaxy S22+

You can use any other Android mobile phone or iPhone.

Step 2:

Follow the normal set up guide as stated on the screen of your Sound Recorder.

Your Sound Recorder should say the following:

"Ready to connect.

Please connect using the Nomono Companion app. Download it from Google Play or the App Store."

Companion App download links:

Step 3:

When the setup is complete, your Sound Recorder is ready for the firmware update.

Your Sound Recorder may, or may not, have initiated a firmware update automatically during, or after, the setup process. This will vary.

To force your Sound Capsule to do a firmware update, continue to step 4.

Step 4:

Make sure your Sound Recorder is connected to Wi-Fi.

If you just did the setup process, your Sound Recorder should already be connected to WiFi.

Step 5:

Push and hold the left button with the arrow pointing "down" for 5 seconds.

Step 6:

A message will appear on the screen of your Sound Recorder. Choose "Reboot".

Step 7:

Wait a few minutes after reboot. Your Sound Capsule will download the update in the background. Depending on the internet connection, this may take a while.

Note: after downloading, the update has to be installed. Please continue to step 8.

Step 8:

Check if your download is ready to install within your Companion App (The Sound Capsule have to be connected to the Companion App for it to appear).

Up in the right corner, click the Gear-icon and look for "Software update".

If it is ready, choose "Install".

Note: If the update doesn't show up after 30 minutes, double check that the kit is connected to a Wi-Fi and repeat the steps.
