Why should I update?

Our updates may include a variety of improvements, from bug fixes and performance enhancements to exciting new features. We always recommend updating when a new one is available to ensure you get the best experience and performance.

Overview: previously released updates

This page describes all the improvements we have made in past over-the-air firmware updates for the Nomono Sound Capsule.

  • Fix an issue where Stellar Mic could crash in the middle of a recording

  • Add the possibility of starting a firmware update via Companion (bluetooth)
  • Add Flight Mode (Charging and Wi-Fi will be disabled)
  • Add Control Panel in Space Recorder GUI. For now, it is possible to select Reboot, Flight mode or Check for updates. To go into the control panel, press and hold the down button on the Space Recorder for 5 seconds.
  • Display final recording time while fetching data from stellar mics after recording
  • Show warning LED during recording if a stellar mic buffer is almost full
  • Add warnings related to stellar mic buffer fill, slow data transfer and out-of-range
  • Add warning when trying to reboot during firmware upgrade and/or recording
  • Automatically stop recording when all devices are docked for more than 60 seconds

  • Optimize transfer speed of audio data from Stellar Mics to Space Recorder during and after recording. This means significantly less waiting for data transfer after a recording has been stopped. In our own tests, the data transfer time after a long recording with all four stellar mics could be reduced from up to ~20 minutes to only ~2 seconds!

  • Fix an issue where radio update could get stuck and fail to complete properly. The previous versions of the radio update had a tendency to get stuck during the update process. To fix this issue, we added additional handling and improved the overall robustness of the update mechanism.

Changes

  • Stellar Mic: Improve sync algorithm for the Stellar Mic. This updated algorithm improves audio/time synchronization between the Stellar Mic and Space Recorder while recording, resulting in higher audio quality when recording with multiple stellar mics, especially when it comes to crosstalk-reduction in cloud.
  • Space Recorder: For extra long recordings, audio is now split into 4-hour segments to comply with Cloud max length.

Fixed

  • Space Recorder Wi-Fi: In compliance with the EU market regulations, we have implemented changes to the Wi-Fi functionality specifically related to the 5GHz band. With this update, channels 149 and above are now blocked, ensuring adherence to the necessary standards and regulations.
  • Space Recorder Bluetooth: Due to limited available broadcast bytes, the broadcasted device name will now be truncated to 20 bytes
  • Space Recorder UI: We have resolved an issue where dismissible notifications could occasionally be hidden behind other notifications.

  • Add control panel in Space Recorder. Hold the down button for 5 seconds to enter control panel.
  • Show upload speed on display
  • Show sound capsule name in auth confirmation if name has been changed
  • Implement device mismatch message that appears when devices from different kits are docked in the same charging case
  • Show progress bar when starting up the space recorder
  • Show upload speed notification if upload speed is slow over time
  • Add warning about low battery while recording
  • Show stellar mic radio signal strength on space recorder display
